This wood painting started as my working table. I would create other smaller works on top of this and overtime it started collecting layers of color and texture. When I returned to it, I began shaping the painting. I kept some of that original history, but added new marks to shape the composition.
 
It reflects the idea that sometimes what’s beneath the surface is trying to break through, in art and in life.
