Hi, I’m Larissa, an abstract artist. I create from an authentic place, allowing the color, texture, and story on each canvas to reflect my inner world.  Art has always been a huge part of my journey, a healing outlet for me to process life. After 16 years in media at a large non-profit, I reached a crossroads and left a corporation where I was no longer welcomed after coming out.  In that season of searching for what was next, I returned to what has always been there for me: art. This time, I decided to stop putting it on the back burner. So here I am, giving my art the space it’s always deserved.

My work is abstract, layered, and full of texture. I often work with acrylics, charcoal, oil pastels, and found objects on wood or canvas, allowing each piece to evolve into exactly what it is meant to be. Sometimes I begin and let the intuitive flow guide me, other times I have a clear vision and work slowly and intentionally until the emotion beneath the surface fully comes through.

Each series I create reflects something I’m exploring emotionally or spiritually. A recent collection focused on the idea of overflow and how what’s inside of us always finds a way out. My current series, Doors To Somewhere, is inspired by doors and windows I’ve encountered in my travels, representing the liminal space we sometimes find ourselves in, the mystery of what’s behind the surface and the invitation to step into the unknown.

My work has been featured in exhibitions at the Charlotte Art League, Mount Holly Art Festival, Davidson Gallery Crawl, NoDa’s Christmas Art Festival, and the upcoming Mint Museum Pop-Up Art Market. My paintings have been collected by art lovers who resonate with the energy and emotion captured on the canvas.

Beyond the studio, I cherish life’s simple joys in Charlotte, NC with my incredible wife and our spirited Yorkie, Symba.
